US and Thailand relationship strengthened with Bush visit

US President George Bush has met the Thai prime minister to talk about the relationship of both countries.

Thailand Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej, speaking during a press conference with President Bush, said they had discussed the strengthening of military and security issues, which benefited both countries and the region.

He said the two had also agreed to enhance the Thai-U.S. relation by focusing on education, public health, sciences, security and law enforcement cooperation.

President Bush said the two countries had already worked closely together on many fronts, including the fight against HIV/AIDS and the avian flu.

He also said Thailand was a partner in the war on terror and thanked Thailand’s prime minister for the help received for the people of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Bush visited Seoul and Bangkok while en route to Beijing to attend the Summer Olympics.
