US automakers close down dealerships

Philippines News.Net
Saturday 16th May, 2009

The largest US automakers have decided to abandon close to 1,000 dealerships across the country.

General Motors and Chrysler have decided not to renew franchises, which will affect nearly one quarter of all Chrysler and GM dealerships across the United States.

Industry experts warn the cuts will translate into bigger price tags for car buyers.

Many auto dealers have been feeling pain as struggling automakers cut costs in the worst sales slump in nearly three decades.
