Kidnapped principal beheaded in the Philippines

A kidnapped state school principal was beheaded by his abductors on a southern Philippine island, a regional military spokesman said Monday.
The head of Gabriel Canizares, 36, was recovered at dawn Monday at a petrol station in Jolo town on Jolo Island, 1,000 km south of Manila, Major Ramon David Hontiveros said.
Hontiveros said two motorcycle-riding gunmen, believed to be Abu Sayyaf rebels, allegedly threw a plastic bag containing the victim's head in front of the petrol station.
Police officers were still looking for Canizares' body.
Canizares was seized Oct 19 by a dozen Abu Sayyaf guerrillas in Patikul town while travelling in a passenger minibus.
The kidnapping occurred despite intensified military operations against the Abu Sayyaf rebels after the release in July of the last of three international Red Cross volunteers seized by the guerrillas on Jolo in January.
The Abu Sayyaf is the smallest but most violent Muslim rebel group in the southern Philippines. The group has been responsible for deadly terrorist attacks and high-profile kidnappings in the country.
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo Monday ordered the military and the police 'to put an end to the Abu Sayyaf group's heinous and inhumane atrocities'.
'The death of Mr Canizares will not be in vain,' deputy presidential spokeswoman Lorelie Fajardo said. 'Rescue efforts will shift to punitive action.'
'The police and military operations are in full swing,' she said. 'We shall make them pay for the enormity of this savagery.'  Email this story to a friend

The banditry and inhumane atrocities of these group must not go un punish and should be given the same treatment if apprehended by the authority... A man who is the headmaster of educational institution who trying to educate our young people in the island should not be treated like an animal.He is there to educate the children so they will not be like them like a wild animal who treat educators like animal.They do not have any room to roam in the face of the earth.Capturing those criminals humanly but I will not do that, I will finish them on the spot.... Trail is very secondary ,shot to kill......no prisoners

A precious life has been lost by a community in need.
Do we have to wait until another precious life has been wasted by the savages? Shame is on the government that it let it happened on its own backyard while reaping the international image of a stable government. This group of savages and criminals should have been stopped many years ago for its previous crimes. Now that this issue has attracted international attention, the president will be very willing to get involve and once again reap the credit. Having said that, I still wanted to see our government initiate actions genuinely and not be driven by international publicity.

We are all broke and have no lives because we cannot get rid of criminals like this
There will never be trade in the south there will be no tourist communities there will never be any drive for people to go to one of the most wonderful Beautiful countries in Asia, this is all because of a group of people who just do not want to go out and work like the rest of us each day, they want everything given to them, they want everything for nothing, and they want to destroy everything that is good! They want to try and take the Mineral rights by forming there own indigenous group making claims of Home land when they have no right to it! If these people want their home land well Lets send them back to the country in which they praise and enjoy their misconceptions of a Belief! It is coming to the Citizens to take matters into their own hands to rid our country of these elements so we to can start to enjoy a peaceful living, not a place of Horror or a place we have to live and worry who will be the next one taken or what child will be Killed or what girl or women will be rapped by one of these animals! There is no way for anyone in their right mind would believe coming into the south or the Philippines for this matter to start new businesses for all of us to work with these kinds of people ready to walk in to a company and take the Owners or their families members and want an outrageous ransom, would any of you go into a country knowing this is your faith? When will we stand up to these people?
