Crime 34% down in Compostela Valley

NABUNTURAN, Compostela Valley (PIA) - Looks like this province became a much safer place in the second quarter of 2018, with statistics from the Police Provincial Office showing a decrease in the number of crimes.

The PPO figures showed that the crime volume in Compostela Valley went down by 33.65 percent to 140 cases from April to June 2018 from 211 in the same period in 2017.

Index crime went down by 22.55 percent to 79 from April to June this year, compared to 102 in the same period in 2017. Non-indexcrime, on the other hand, dropped by 44.04 percent to 61 from April to June 2018, from 109 in the same period last year.

Senior Superintendent Roderico Roy, police director for Compostela Valley, credited the police and other law enforcement agencies for reducing crime in the province.

Included in the major accomplishments of the police was the arrest of 16 illegal drug personalities including Jail Officer I Roy del Aguinaldo, the most wanted drug personality in the Davao Region.

Likewise highlighted were the arrest of 30 suspects in illegal gambling operations and 71 wanted suspects in other crimes. (PIA-11)
