CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, Nov. 5 (PIA) -- Finally! After 10 years of stay in Mindanao, at least 75 soldiers from the 45th Infantry Batallion were reunited with their families and fellow soldiers recently.
On Saturday, November 3, officials of the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army based in Gamu town welcomed back the 75 soldiers who are part of the 366 soldiers from the 45th Infantry Batallion deployed in Mindanao.
The 75 soldiers arrived at the Tactical Operations Group - 2 carried by a C-130 plane of the Philippine Air Force.
Maj. Gen. Perfecto Rimando Jr., commanding general of 5ID, PA led the welcome ceremony of the returning soldiers. In his message, he said their service to the people in Mindanao for 10 years is notable especially in maintaining the peace and order there.
Rimando said the second and third batches of soldiers from the 45IB will soon return home in the mother unit in the days to come as he emphasized that the 75 soldiers are just the first batch.
Meanwhile, Army Maj. Jefferson Somera, Division Public Affairs Office head, said the soldiers will be undergoing a one-month re-training program before they will be assigned in various military units under the 5ID,PA jurisdiction.
In the maintenance of peace and order in the areas under the area of operations of the army division , Somera assured the public of more strengthened security measures as he said the come back of the the soldiers is a big help. (MDCT/MGE/PIA 2-Isabela)
