CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, Nov. 6 (PIA) -- Department of Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Pinol plans to establish a "DA Tienda" in the four cities in Cagayan Valley as a measure to cushion the high prices of agriculture products in the public markets.

Pinol made the announcement when he visited Isabela and Cagayan provinces, on Monday, Nov. 5, to meet with the different representatives from the agriculture sector in the region.

He said the "DA Tienda" will sell lower agriculture products to the public compared to the agriculture products sold in the markets.

"There is a need to establish the "DA Tienda" in the region so that lower prices of agriculture products will be available to the public," said Pinol.

Pinol added that the impact of Typhoon Rosita in the agriculture sector in Northern Luzon has greatly affected the supply from producers.

He said the "DA Tienda" will be put up in the cities of Tuguegarao, Ilagan, Cauayan and Santiago to be supervised by the Department of Agriculture here. (MDCT/MGE/PIA 2-Isabela)
