VIGAN CITY, Nov. 7 - - Pension beneficiaries in Ilocos Sur are notified by the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO)-Field Service Extension Office here against the services of fixers in receiving PVAO benefits in exchange of monetary consideration.
PVAO-Ilocos Sur Veterans Assistance Officer Aprille Alviarne has issued the warning as she received reports that fixers are visiting PVAO pensioners in their residence inducing them that they will receive benefits in exchange of P20,000.
"Please be informed that these people are not PVAO employees, and they are not authorized to transact with PVAO pensioners," Alviarne said.
She added that any benefits will be automatically remitted to the PVAO pensioners' account.
PVAO informs its clients to never sign any documents or give details on their pension to anybody, and to report such questionable transactions to their office.
Fixers are persons involved in the operation of a government office who have access to people working therein, who facilitate quick completion of transactions for monetary gain or any other advantage. Their actions are illegal and penalized under RA 9485 or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007. (JNPD/JMQ/PIA-1, Ilocos Sur)
