DTI 12 Regional Director Dorecita Delima said the event is more of a levelling up from the previous fairs since 2014, which were "merely trade fair."

"This year we decided to involve other agencies, those that have relation on business and jobs generation, and then we also involve not only producers, manufacturers, but also would be entrepreneurs and other existing entrepreneurs who would like to go into business," she explained.

Delima added the event is a total package of those who would like to go into business and those who are seeking jobs here and abroad.

Activities during the jobs and business fair include the 5th OuR12 Trade Expo; Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay Stakeholders Summit; Trabaho Negosyo Kabuhayan (TNK) Jobs Fair; Nego Solusyon; Regional CMCI Forum and Awarding; and MSMEs Regional Congress.

The 5th OuR12 Trade Expo is a continuing drive of DTI to further promote locally-made products, thus expand markets and increase sales.

DTI South Cotabato Provincial Director Flora Gabunales explained that the trade expo will feature two new concepts: TsokoKapeTeria, a special pavilion offering local coffee, tea, and cacao blends; and the "OuR12 Treats" or the newly-packaged bread and pastry pasalubong products which can be paired with the hot beverages.

The Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay Stakeholders Summit will be a convergence of government services, bringing it closer to the people to spur enterprise creation and growth at the grassroots level, said DTI Sarangani Officer-in-Charge Ethel Laksmi Gumana.

"A MOU will be formalized among DTI, DILG, DA, DOLE, DOST, TESDA and LGUs of the region during the summit on November 14, 2018," she added.

For the TNK Jobs Fair, Fatima Bataga, Field Office Head of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Gensan disclosed that 1,500-2,000 job vacancies will be offered for jobseekers.

Bataga urged interested applicants to bring their complete documents like transcript of records, resume and other important requirements during the jobs fair as there are companies that do hiring on-the-spot.

DTI 12 division head Hazel Hautea also explained the Nego Solusyon which is a customized package of business-related services for entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs consisting of series of activities, namely NEGOmodels, NEGOpack, NEGOtech, NEGOtalks, NEGOcoach, and NEGOlink.

For the Regional CMCI Forum, DTI Cotabato officer-in-charge Carlito Nunez said local government units, provincial government offices, national government agencies (NGAs), the academe and the private sector will convene to further efforts toward competitiveness by way of productivity and good governance.

"This will be a venue to recognize exemplary performance of LGUs based on the four pillars of competitiveness, namely economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, and resiliency."

Felicidad Into, president of the General Santos City Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council, Inc. (GSC-SMEDCI) also shared the city's hosting of the 5th Regional MSMEs Congress on November 15.

She said 400-500 participants from the whole region are expected to attend the said gathering where opportunities and initiatives for MSMEs under the 7Ms framework will be the highlight of the congress. 7Ms stand for Mindset Change, Mastery, Mentoring, Money, Machine, Market Access, and Models of Business.

Meanwhile, DTI 12 will also set up a Negosyo Center Desk for the whole duration of the business and jobs fair which will entertain business-related queries from businessmen and aspiring entrepreneurs; and the S.U.P.E.R. consumer Desk which will educate consumers on their rights and responsibilities making them more vigilant and protected from market abuse.
