KIANGAN, Ifugao, Nov. 13 (PIA) -- More than a thousand pupils in Natonin, Mountain Province received gifts in an outreach activity last week spearheaded by the 54th Infantry Battalion (IB) based in this municipality
The one-day activity on November 9 served 1,115 beneficiaries from the nine elementary schools of Natonin was in partnership with the GMA Kapuso Foundation, Inc. led by Aron Calma, United Natonin Youth Organization, Department of Education (DepEd) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
"The gifts the team brought was for sure not enough to ease the pain that we feel right now but what matters most is the thought that there are people willing to extend their help in times like this," Lt. Col. Narciso Nabulneg Jr., 54th IB Commanding Officer said.
Nabulneg lauded all stakeholders who supported the successful activity. "The timely sharing of blessings from the GMA Kapuso inspires and further continues the beat of Bayanihan here in our hearts," he added.
"Kahit anong dagok ng buhay man ang kakaharapin, ipagpatuloy natin ang pagbangon dahil kaya natin itong lampasan kung tayo ay magkapit-bisig," (Whatever trials we may face, we strive to rise from it , and we can if we hold on together) Calma said as he hopes that this early Christmas gifts will give inspiration to one and all.
Deliza Paluwa, a pupil from Layog-Ogtong Elementary School expressed her gratitude to the team. "I am very thankful that you choose Natonin as your recipient of this activity for we are hit hardly by typhoon Rosita," she said.
The town of Natonin suffered the wrath of typhoon Rosita claiming lives and leaving much damage in crops and properties. 11 individuals are still missing and the subjects of ongoing search and retrieval operations in sitio Ha'rang, Banawel where the buildings of the Mountain Province 2nd Engineering District were buried by landslides.
