BAGUIO CITY, Jan. 10(PIA) - "You should always be on your toes in keeping our place as one of the most peaceful cities in the country."
Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan told the local police in his regular weekly meeting with the Baguio City Police Office or Baguio's Finest headed by City Director P/Sr.Supt. Eliseo Tanding as he instructed them to intensify the campaign against criminality and illegal drugs especially in the central business district.
Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan urges Baguio City Police officers to ensure peace and order in the city stressing on curbing criminality and addressing the growing traffic pronlem.
Petty crimes were committed in the past week with the offenders mostly under the influence of liquor.
Tanding assured the mayor that they will double to exercise police duties and work hard in order that the residents, students, tourists and general public are safe in the city.
The police chief said one of the main concerns is managing the traffic that is monstrous especially on weekends. "We are asking the cooperation of our motorists to observe traffic rules," he said.
The mayor reminded the police to coordinate with the barangay officials to combat criminality and come up with an arrangement to curtail enormous traffic congestions in the city.
Many tourists are coming up to Baguio now to experience the chilly weather and the influx of tourists is expected to continue with the upcoming Panagbenga Festival and the summer season.
Meanwhile, the BCPO will be strictly implementing the election gun ban which starts on January 13 up to June 12, 2019 as per Commission on Elections guidelines. (JDP/JBZ- PIA CAR)
