SAN JOSE DEL MONTE CITY, Jan. 12 (PIA) -- President Rodrigo R. Duterte assured a better and comfortable life for wounded soldiers and police officers who risked their lives for the country.

In his message during the awarding of housing units to 35 Wounded-In-Action (WIA) soldiers and 15 Wounded-In-Police-Operations (WIPO) at Pleasant View Residences in barangay Graceville, Duterte stressed that he had seen the suffering and agony of soldiers of the republic and he wants to make things easier for them.

"It is hard to be a soldier because they go there [Marawi] to die. Some of them will die because that is the theory of their life," he noted.

Duterte emphasized the administration's resolve to provide the uniformed personnel and their families not only a just and decent shelter, but also with a home where they can build their dreams and chart a brighter future.

"So here I am after the incident in Marawi where there were a lot of suffering. This is the least that I can do for the soldiers especially to their families- to make it easy for them and see to it that they have houses," Duterte said.

Beneficiaries permanently disabled were granted with two 24-square meter residential units for free while those who are partially disabled will receive the same housing units with a monthly amortization payable in 30 years. Duterte ordered the decrease to P225 the monthly amortization of the partially disabled WIA soldiers and WIPO.

Pleasant View Residences is complete with a covered court, multi-purpose center, livelihood and training center, and multi-material recovery center. A terminal for public transport is also provided by National Housing Authority. (CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3)
