BAGUIO CITY, May 26 (PIA)--President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will grace the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) commencement exercises at Fort del Pilar here, Sunday.
The 263-strong PMA MABALASIK (Mandirigma ng Bayan, Iaalay ang Sarili, Lakas at Tapang Para sa Kapayapaan) Class of 2019 is composed of 190 males and 73 females.
The President, assisted by PMA Superintendent Lt. Gen. Ronnie S. Evangelista, will award the diplomas and present awards to the graduates.
Cadet 1Class Dionne Mae Apolog Umalla of Alilem, Ilocos Sur leads the graduating class. She is the fifth female cadet to graduate as valedictorian at PMA.
As the top graduate, Umalla will receive the Presidential Saber Award from the President.
Others in the Top 10 are Cdt. 1CL Jonathan Eslao Mendoza from Sangley Point; Cavite City, Cdt. 1CL Jahziel Gumapac Tandoc of La Trinidad, Benguet; 1CL Daniel Heinz Bugnosen Lucas from Barlig, Mountain Province; Cdt. 1CL Aldren Maambong Altamero from Kidapawan City, North Cotabato; Cdt. 1CL Richard Balabag Lonogan of Sagada, Mountain Province; Cdt. 1CL Marnel Dinihay Fundales from Iloilo; Cdt. 1CL Glyn Elinor Buansi Marapao from Buguias, Benguet;1CL Ruth Angelique Ricardo Pasos of Pasig City, and Cdt. 1CL Daryl James Galado Ligutan from Sta. Mesa, Manila.
Of the class who will be commissioned by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana as military officers, 134 will join the Army, 63 to the Air force and 66 to the Navy.
PMA Class of 2019 is the first batch to graduate in May instead of March after the country's elite military training school adjusted their school calendar to follow the K-12 system.(PIA-CAR)
