MUNTINLUPA CITY, June 25 (PIA)--Office of the City Veterinarian - Muntinlupa invites pet owners to participate in the second batch of Muntinlupa City K-9 Search and Rescue (SAR) Training and to join in the local K-9 SAR Unit.
According to Dr. Pamela Hernandez, City Veterinarian, they will conduct an orientation on July 7, 8:00AM - 10:00AM at 2F Resiliency Building Conference Room, Brgy. Tunasan. "There's no need to bring dogs during the orientation," she said.
With the recent construction of Muntinlupa Animal Pound in Brgy. Tunasan, the City offers a platform for canine training to assist in search-and-rescue operations. The free SAR training will be facilitated by the MMDA K9 Corps once a week every weekends.
Hernandez said, the first batch of Muntinlupa K-9 SAR Unit started training last March. She added that the local government envisions having a K-9 SAR Unit every barangay with at least five (5) members and acquiring bomb-sniffing dogs for anti-criminality and security operations.
"After advancing in the workshops and being certified by the MMDA K-9 Corps, we also look at training other LGUs, especially neighboring cities, to help them establish their own K-9 SAR. MMDA K-9 Corps also eyes Muntinlupa City to be the center of K-9 SAR training in the Metro Manila South Quadrant," Hernandez said.
Pet owners who wish to have their dogs trained may coordinate with OCV Muntinlupa located at Annex Building, Muntinlupa City Hall, National Road, Putatan with tel. no. 862-3866 or visit their Facebook page at Office of the City Veterinarian Muntinlupa City. (PIA InfoComm/PIO Muntinlupa)
