43 SurSur PWDUs finish skills training

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, July 11 (PIA) - A total of 43 Persons Who Use Drugs (PWUDs) in Surigao del Sur successfully graduated the five-day skills training program initiated by the Police Provincial Office (PPO) headed by Police Col. Francisco Dungo.

The implementation of the said program was in collaboration with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the provincial government, and the local government units concerned.

According to TESDA Specialist Lee Escobal, the program, dubbed as project "PAGLAUM," which stands for "Pagbag-o Alang sa Lamdag Ug Malambuon Nga Kaugmaon" (Change for a Brighter and Progressive Future), kicked-off last June 24, 2019.

Escobal said the PWUDs undergo the Small Engine Repair/Motor Mechanic training at the PPO based in Camp Vicente L. Pimentel Sr. in Telaje, Tandag City.

Escobal added, that TESDA headed by Provincial Director Rey Cueva provided the technical support during the duration of the implementation of the said program.

The PWUD beneficiaries were all Surigaonons with ages ranging from 18-54 years old.

The participants were also provided with the toolkits during the closing ceremony for them to start for their livelihood, Escobal concluded. (PIA-Surigao del Sur)
