KALIBO, Aklan, Aug.19 (PIA) -- The Provincial Advisory Council for Police Transformation and Development (PAC-PTD) of the Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) here recently welcomed and inducted its additional members coming from various areas in the province during its 4th meeting held in Kalibo town.
APPO acting provincial director Police Colonel Esmeraldo P. Osia, Jr. inducted the new members representing different sectors to include Rev. Fr. Vincent Cajilig (religious); Dr. Ma. Jhoanna Guarin (academe); Jaslyn Amacio (youth sector); and Rommel Constantino (LGBTQ).
PAC-PTD serves as an advisory body of the PNP in the implementation of the Peace and Order Agenda for Transformation and Upholding of the Rule of Law (PATROL) Plan 2030.
The induction of new members served as the first part of the activity, which was followed by a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing between the APPO and Aklan Bagong Buhay Handum Naton (BAGHAY) Incorporated, a civil society organization which stemmed from the organization of PAC-PTD in Aklan.
BAGHAY was initiated to partner with Aklan PNP to eradicate illegal drugs by providing financial and logistical support during anti-illegal drugs operations.
The BAGHAY initiative was formally launched on November 19, 2016 in support to the program of PNP-Aklan in line with the declaration of President Rodrigo Duterte of the war against illegal drugs in the country.
The Aklan BAGHAY Inc. is now duly registered with the Security and Exchange Commission.
Osia represented the APPO in the signing of the MOA while the Aklan BAGHAY, Inc. was represented by Ramel Buncalan. Osias said the signing of the MOA between the two parties will support the existence of BAGHAY and formalize its partnership with the APPO.
The MOA signing is also seen to create a long-lasting collaboration of PNP-Aklan and its stakeholders towards the attainment of its vision as highly capable, effective and credible police service.
After the MOA signing, the meeting proper of the PAC-PTD followed to discuss plans on the various activities to be undertaken by the council in coordination with the APPO to mark BAGHAY's 3rd anniversary on November 21-23 this year. (JBG/VGV/PIA6 Aklan)
