TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, Aug. 23 (PIA) -- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Surigao del Sur (TESDA-SDS) Provincial Office in partnership with the private and public sectors will hold a one-day World Cafe of Opportunities (WCO) on Sunday, August 25, at the city gymnasium here, for the construction and agriculture sectors.
According to Lee Escobal, TESD Specialist, the said activity, which will be conducted simultaneously nationwide, is celebrated annually pursuant to Section 2 of Republic Act 10970 or the observance of the National Tech-Voc Day every 25th day of August of every year.
Escobal added the activity will serve as a 'one-stop-shop' for TVET graduates/alumni where national government agencies, private companies, tech-voc institutions and financing institutions converge in strategic locations to offer all possible employment, training and financing opportunities and facilitate higher job-skill matching.
"This is also one of the interventions of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) Surigao del Sur in providing livelihood opportunities to the Surigaonons," he added.
The participating sectors are: the Technical Vocational Education and Training Association of Surigao del Sur (TVETASS), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Public Works and highways (DPWH), Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg), Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), PhilHealth, Pag-ibig Fund, Social Security System (SSS), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), 36th Infantry "Valor" Battalion, the City Government of Tandag and the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur.
Employers/companies from the Construction and Agriculture sectors with job openings and vacancies will be there as well, it was learned. (with a report from TESDA/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
