Davao's small hotels level up thru branding, booking platform

DAVAO CITY, Sept. 13, (PIA) - Hotels and other forms of accommodation businesses in Davao City have recently seen the need to scale up management and maximize the digital platform to grow their business.

This was revealed as RedDoorz Philippines, a hotel management and booking platform bared that 30 hotels in the city have partnered with the company for hotel management and digital marketing.

Its country marketing manager Raenald de Jesus said that hotel owners in Davao City have realized that in order to keep up with the competition, they need to keep up with the standards on hotel management that includes provision of service guarantee for the customers.

"Partner hotels which are of 2-3 stars or small hotels are helped to have and maintain its branding and platform to achieve an over-all operation goal. This means hotels are taught on the value of providing its customers a standardized experience," de Jesus said.

Customers would normally prefer a hotel that offers services such as wi-fi, mineral water, cable television, linen, hot and cold shower, and amenities.

He added that customers also prefer to find hotel accommodation online and even have its booking also done online.

Businesswoman and property owner Diane Ngeo, once had a dormitory business along the city's downtown district. However, she wanted to upgrade the property into a hotel business with minimal cost.

She then did her research and partnered with a company that helped her transition from a dormitory business into a hotel. She now operates a hotel business catering to wide array of customers ranging from young, professionals, and even family.

She also realized the importance of enrolling into a booking platform to reach more potential clients and maintain a systemized booking process.

"I keep up with the standards by making sure that I put out a capital for amenities, hot and cold shower, etc. It was also made easier for me to manage the operations because the business now has a system for accepting bookings. Also, more and more people get to know that my hotel is operational, thus, marketing is very effective," she shared.

In her first month after the transition, her business got 86 percent in occupancy.

"I have seen immediate results through this partnership, marketing, and digital booking platform."

Aside from the technology applied into the business, property owners like Diane also appreciated partner engagement activities such as providing them a consultant who would suggest solutions to particular problems or demands. Trainings for the staff and other operations concerns are but some of the needs of many small hotel businesses in the city.

"By helping our partners grow we also help increase the knowledge and skills of people who work in the hospitality industry, and thus support both domestic and international travel," said RedDoorz Philippines Country Head Stefanie Irma.

The Davao City market, according to de Jesus, is focused on domestic travelers who come to the city from neighboring provinces for a variety of purposes. Travelers come for medical, academic, leisure, and business reasons.
