PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, (PIA) Sept. 14 - The country's 42nd "Malasakit Center" opens Friday in Zamboanga del Sur with Senator Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go leading the unveiling of the most awaited one-stop-shop help line for indigent people of the province for medical assistance.
The Malasakit Center is located inside the state-owned Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center in Barangay Dao, this City.
Go said the unveiling of the Malasakit Center is a manifestation of how serious he is in putting into action and implementation his campaign promises to put on top of his list the medical services for the ZamboSurians, among others.
Along with the formal opening of the Malasakit Center, Go turned over Php5 million check to served as the center's initial fund to be used to help in the medical needs of the poor and the under privileged. Go said, the center will get Php5 million fund every month .
Zamboanga del Sur Governor Victor Yu said the turned-over of the Malasakit Center to the people of the province is a meaningful event as it coincides with the celebration of the 67th Araw ng Zamboanga del Sur.
The Malasakit Center is the 4th to open in Region 9. It is a one-stop-shop concept located at the corner of the hospital that converges the Department of Social Welfare and Development, PhilHealth, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and the Department of Health .
The gathering of these agencies in one center makes medical assistance transactions easier without having to leave the hospital and an assurance of a one day only processing.
An express lane for the senior citizens, pregnant women and the differently abled person is also available in the center.
