CEBU CITY, Sept. 4 (PIA) -- Representatives from national government agencies, local government units, businesses, and non-government organizations that deal with public safety and security recently attended an artificial intelligence awareness seminar on video and radio surveillance technology at the Golden Prince Hotel, Cebu City.
The talk focused on the theme: "Embracing AI for Public Safety and Security: A Unified Approach," that was organized by Avigilon, Hello Marketing, and Motorola Solutions Company.
Hello Marketing General Manager Engr. Francis Dy said event aims to inspire and educate the participants in the planning process of providing security in a unified direction.
Dy said that they were inspired by the speech of Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella stating the need for unified communication and alert response system to facilitate quick response when there are calamities and security threats.
He also quoted Pres. Rodrigo Duterte in saying that the government should not depend solely on private telecommunication companies since there is usually congestion in their network during calamity situations.
By this, the President wanted an independent communication system to be used in times of calamities and emergencies.
Dy said they see an increase in the demand for secure communications and AI/video analytics surveillance system particularly for peace and order, public safety and disaster preparedness.
Meanwhile, during the discussion, high-tech surveillance cameras were presented that can locate and track people and vehicles across an area without the conventional fast forward and rewind technology.
These types of video surveillances have features such as usual motion detection, attention interface focus, high definition with minimal bandwidth, ultra-high resolution and self-learning video analytics.
The seminar also presented and demonstrated advanced portable, digital radio device that can be efficient in the workplace. (fan/pia7)
