BANGUED, Abra, Sept. 20(PIA) --The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office (SDO) of Abra lauded its partners in the successful implementation of Brigada Eskwela 2019 during a local stakeholders' convergence.
Senior Education Program Specialist Jan Nowell Pena said that the SDO has been intensifying the program's implementation to maintain its success and go beyond the expected outcomes with the help of its partners.
This year's Brigada Eskwela is anchored on the theme "Matatag na Bayan para sa Maunlad na Paaralan" which acknowledges the role of the community in making schools the best place for learners to acquire the values and competencies they need to contribute to nation-building. Mostly implemented during the 3rdor 4thweek of May, stakeholders both from private and public sector gather together in the preparation of schools such as campus cleaning and minor reparation of school facilities.
For their contribution and support to DepEd programs projects and activities, the SDO awarded ten outstanding stakeholders and partners. The awardees were Congressman Joseph Sto. Nino Bernos, Governor Joy Bernos; Engr. Irene Bringas, Abra Diocesan Teachers and Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative Executive Officer; Luzviminda Curbi, outgoing president of the Federation of Parents and Teachers Association; Dr. Maria Teresa Benas, KALIPI Abra president; Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15; 24thInfantry Wildcat Battalion; Abra Community Broadcasting Corporation; Philippine Information Agency-Abra and the Civil Service Commission.
During the event, Cong. Bernos outlined the importance of DepEd's Brigada Eskwela for the benefit of all Abrenian students. He reminded everyone that it must not only be implemented during a particular period instead, it must be practiced year-round.
Bernos committed to give greater support to public and private schools in the delivery of quality education in province especially in far-flung areas. He vowed to initiate the establishments of school facilities such as covered courts and multi-storey classrooms.
Outgoing Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Amador D. Garcia expressed his gratitude to the public and private partner of SDO in the attainment of all their achievements.
Last July, DepEd SDO Abra achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, which was described by Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Christopher Benigno as a laborious process. He assured that with the ISO certification, the division's service delivery now conforms to quality and high standards. (JDP/CAGT - PIA CAR, Abra)
