LAGAWE, Ifugao Oct. 7 (PIA) - - The Civil Service Commission (CSC) in the province encouraged government workers to build high trust for public service for the benefit of people and nation as a whole.
CSC-Ifugao Field Office Director Anita Parades said a high trust society is one where behavior of the population towards each other is predictable. People follow broadly understood norms of behavior supported by the rule of law.
"This is a vision for Filipinos to have a maginhawa at panatag na buhay. To achieve this, civil servants have to show society by being competent, reliable and sincere for us to build a high trust society," she added.
Parades explained that building high trust is important not only for personal happiness but in influence at work and career success. This involves some elements like competence, reliability, and sincerity.
"Competence depends on what area of expertise or skill you are assessing someone to be trustworthy. So the question to ask here is, "Does this person have the skills, knowledge, attitude and resources to perform this specific task?"
Reliability is about whatever you can count on someone to manage and honor their commitments and the core of reliability is be-your-word while sincerity relates directly to assessment of someone's character to their fundamental integrity.
Paredes advised the state workers that in order also to build or restore trust , they should develop skills to grow their competence in a particular area, improve punctuality and treat others' time as highly as their own, share how they genuinely feel about an issue, and when have violated trust, apologize and seek to make amends.
"Do not promise to do things you don't have the time, resources or genuine commitment to properly reveal your vulnerability and share an aspect of yourself that exposes your humanity and take time to better understand how someone is feeling to show concern and genuine compassion," she said.
