STA. BARBARA, Pangasinan, Oct. 9 (PIA) - Farmers from the municipalities in the fifth congressional district of Pangasinan have been equipped with their new farm machineries awarded by the Department of Agriculture (DA)-Regional Field Office 1 (DA - RFO1) on Thursday at the Pangasinan Research and Experiment Center in this town.
Vida Cacal, regional information officer of DA-RFO1, said the distribution of farm machineries is through the three banner programs of DA, namely: Rice, Corn and the High Value Crops Development Program, that aims to help farmers to be fully mechanized from planting, harvesting, and drying their farm produced.
Cacal said the farm machineries worth P66,219,357 were given as a grant to the 48 farmers' associations who are duly registered and have qualified in the evaluation and validation of DA.
"These farmers' associations submitted their resolution to DA requesting for farm machineries. They were required to submit certain documents and underwent validation and evaluation to qualify for the grant. Their only counterpart is to have a shaded area where the machineries will be kept," she added.
During the distribution, Erlinda Manipon, officer-in-charge regional technical director for operations of DA - RFO1, said that DA will continuously respond to the needs of the farmers especially on their request for equipment and machineries that will improve their productivity.
"May these projects help you increase your productivity and income so that we can achieve our new Secretary of Agriculture's goal which is, 'Masaganang Ani, Mataas na Kita.' Together we can achieve this goal if we unite," Manipon said.
FARM MACHIENERIES DISTRIBUTION. Farm machineries distributed to the farmers were four-wheel drive tractor, combine harvester, hand tractor, riding-type transplanter, walk-behind transplanter, mobile dryer, hauling truck, seed cleaner, compact rice mill, water pump, corn planter, corn sheller, two-row planter, power sprayer, knapsack sprayer, HDPE pipes, plastic drum, plastic crates, fermentation box, pole pruner and moisture meter.
In addition to the machineries distributed, the DA also provided P2,781,600 worth of inbred seeds and P6,072,000 worth of hybrid seeds to the qualified beneficiaries. (AMB/EMSA/PIA-Pangasinan with reports form DA-RFO1)
