Cebu City, Oct. 3 (PIA) -- The Industry Tripartite Council (ITC) in Wholesale and Retail initiated the setting up of a One-Stop Shop government services in Parkmall, Mandaue City on Oct. 2 to 4, 2019.
Workers and employers who have no time to transact at the offices of the Social Security System (SSS); Philhealth; and PAG-IBIG can process their membership, registration or remittances at the mall.
According to DOLE-7 Regional Director Salome O. Siaton, the ITC found it extremely essential to provide an avenue not only for workers but also for employers who do not have ample time to visit the respective offices of the said government agencies and process documentary requirements.
The provision of the services was not only limited to members of the ITC-Wholesale and Retail but also to the general public.
She commended the Council for the initiative, adding that its Board of Trustees (BOTs) will also be around during the three-day event for supervision and monitoring.
Best practices such as the one being initiated by ITC should also be replicated by other councils, added the DOLE-7 Head.
The ITC-Wholesale and Retail is one of the existing active ITCs in Region 7 which include the ITCs in Construction, Education, Hospitals, Hotels, Resorts, Restaurants, and Tourism, Maritime, Manufacturing, Shipbuilding and Ship Repair, Business Process Outsourcing, Bus Transport, and Security Services.
Added to the list are four District Tripartite Councils (DTCs) in BOMEDCO in Medellin, Cebu and in Tolong, Manjuyod, and Bais City in Negros Oriental.
Siaton also expressed her sincere gratitude to SSS, Philhealth, and PAG-IBIG for heeding their request for convergence initiatives and to the management of Parkmall for giving the space where they set up the One-Stop-Shop.
"We hope that with this joint initiative, many will be able to benefit and comply with what the law requires on social welfare benefits," Siaton said. (hfg with report from DOLE-7)
