BORONGAN CITY, October 17 (PIA) - - The Department of Public Works and Highways - Eastern Samar Engineering Office (DPWH-ESDEO) completed the construction/improvement of the tourism access road leading to Hilangagan Beach, Brgy. Punta Maria, Borongan City.
According to Engr. Jayson G. Espeso, Engineer II/Info Officer that the road project amounted to P11.7-M funded by General Appropriations Act for the year 2019 under the agency's Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP) in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT).
The engineer disclosed that the project is concreting the 500 meters access road approach with .20-mm thick and 5-m wide of road pavement which includes also the construction of 100-m concrete stairs down to the beach.
Engr. Manolo A. Rojas, District Engineer said that the access road is a big help in sustaining the tourism growth in the Province.
This project intends to provide driving convenience through safe and durable concrete pavements.
"With this new access road, tourists from different places as well as the residents will no longer have problems in reaching the beach. We are hoping that more tourists will visit Hilangagan Beach with the improvement of its access roads," Engineer Rojas added.
Ms. Nida Alegre, a resident of Brgy. Punta Maria feels happy with the completion of the access road to Hilangagan Beach.
"It will provide livelihood opportunities to the people of Punta Maria with the increased number of tourists," Alegre added.
The construction of the said project started on June 11, 2019 and completed on August 14, 2019.
This is in line with the "Build, Build, Build" program of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte's administration. (nbq/SDC/PIA-E. Samar)
