BORONGAN CITY, Feb. 26 (PIA) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Eastern Samar District Engineering Office (ESDEO) conducted the groundbreaking for the construction of a new Philippine National Police (PNP) - Eastern Samar Provincial Police Office (ESPPO) building on February 20, 2020 at Camp Acedillo, Brgy. Alang-alang, Borongan City.
Police Col. Carlito D. Abriz, PNP-Provincial Director said that the ESPPO building is already dilapidated and this old police station building will be demolished to give the police provincial force a more conducive workplace.
He added that the new police station building will be built on the same lot where the old police station used to stand. In his presentation of project briefer for the construction of new ESPPO building, Engr. Domcelio M. Natividad, Asst. District Engineer said that the said project is under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2020 and one of the high impact projects of ESDEO-DPWH with a total project cost of P24-M.
Engr. Natividad disclosed that the three-storey building is complete with facilities such as CCTV, fire alarm, air conditioning unit, water pumping system, and separate transformer and standby generator.
He added that the construction of this project will start this February and will be finished on August 2020.
In the message of Police Regional Office (PRO-8) Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Ferdinand O. Divina, he said that the construction of the new PNP building is a manifestation that ESPPO is finally ready to provide the public with the quality services they rightfully deserve.
The new building will not only serve as a mere structure, but it will signify as an avenue for community partnership and stakeholders support, he added.
"I would like to commend the political leaders of Eastern Samar for providing essential support in ensuring the activity of police, the support and cooperation and eventually the highest level of trust and confidence of the community," the message read.
In his remarks for the Provincial Government, Gov. Ben P. Evardone said that the building served as a symbol of peace in the province. "I am happy that this project of Congresswoman Abunda is one of the over-all packages to develop the province," Gov. Evardone said.
He added that the PNP and the Philippine Army (PA) play a vital role in the peace and development of our Province. Meanwhile, in her remarks from the Congressional Office, Congresswoman Ma. Fe R. Abunda said that this building was realized through the cooperation and unity of our leaders.
"The peace and development will be realized if we are united. I can't do anything, if I am alone, I need your cooperation," Abunda further said.
"Now that you have a beautiful building with complete facilities, I expect that you have good and quality services to the people of Eastern Samar," Cong. Abunda said.
She disclosed that PNP Sulat and Dolores are due for construction soonest.
Col. Abriz thanked the political leaders of Eastern Samar for the realization of this project. The said building will provide comfort and good working environment of the PNP. (n/SDC/PIA-E. Samar)
