CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro, March 25 (PIA) - Movement of all food and non-food cargoes from Manila to Oriental Mindoro remains unhampered as regular trips of RoRo vessels continue operations according to the report of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Provincial Office.

All operations pertaining to distribution and logistics support manufacturing activities, including cargo handling, warehousing, trucking and port operations are reflected in Memorandum Circular No. 20-06 which states that all cargoes must pass unhampered provided that all business establishments comply with the requirements mandated by the said circular.

Since movement of cargos remains normal, DTI urges consumers not to panic buy. DTI recently issued reasonable limits in the sale/purchase of basic necessities to promote equal distribution of basic necessities among consumers.

Local truckers transfer basic commodities from the incoming truckers from Manila via roro vessels.

DTI Provincial Director Arnel Hutalla said consumers and retailers are advised on the quantity of basic necessities that they are allowed to purchase or sell for the entire duration of the Public Health Emergency.

"This is to prevent unreasonable increase in the prices of all basic necessities as enumerated in the Price Act regardless of the implementing agency assigned, and strictly ensure the availability of all such products for the duration of the Public Health Emergency," said Hutalla.

Hutalla said that there is no reported problem in the coming in of cargos via Calapan Port as facilitated by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) and Calapan Labor Service Development Cooperative (CALSEDECO).

DTI advised local truckers of the distributors, wholesalers, retailers and traders to promptly pick-up or transfer their products upon arrival at the port in order to minimize cargo congestion at Calapan Port. (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
