PARANAQUE, March 28 (PIA) -- Amid stringent isolation and social distancing measures to stop COVID-19 spread, the Taguig City Government now allows residents to address their medical concerns in the comfort of their homes via Telemedicine.

Telemedicine, a program which facilitates residents being able to inform doctors and medical professionals of their medical concerns without the need to go to the hospital or health center, was developed to ensure Taguiguenos' health and well-being.

The city government utilized the advancement in modern technology by allowing its residents to consult a doctor through text messages and online.

The service also allows delivery of prescribed medicines to the homes of its patients to lessen their mobility during quarantine.

According to Mayor Lino Cayetano, the idea is to ensure people strictly do the required home quarantine, and to prevent them from congregating in areas in violation of social distancing protocols.

"Telemedicine also ensures health workers are protected," he said.

Aside from Telemedicine, Metro Manila's 'Probinsyudad' has been delivering maintenance medicines for diabetes, hypertension and cataracts, Tuberculosis and HIV medicine, and reproductive commodities to the homes of its residents. (Taguig PIO/PIA-NCR)
