PASIG CITY, April 1 (PIA) - The "Green Delivery" eco-friendly e-trikes of the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) are now rolling in the city of Pasigto augment in the delivery of relief and medical supplies.
PHLPost Postmaster General Joel Otarra directed postal areas nationwide to help in the distribution of relief goods to communities, as well as medical supplies needed amid the quarantine due to the dreaded coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
"In our own little way, we are fulfilling the organization's mission of serving Filipinos wherever they may be. PHLPost vows to help the community any way we can, after all we are in this together," said Postmaster General Otarra.
The e-trikes, donated by Chinese manufacturer Tailing Electric Vehicles Co. Ltd. (TAILG), can be easily mobilized especially in narrow areas.
Otarra added that PHLPost personnel and even their mail couriers are helping in re-packing of relief goods.
"Through our concerted efforts, PHLPost hopes to continue helping each other with dignity and pride. Because the essence of service is our love for the people, for the nation, and together we will win this fight."
The vehicle is a pilot testing project to facilitate sustainable transport to thrive in the "Green City" of Pasig - a step towards achieving a fully modernized postal system serving the needs of Filipinos using eco-friendly vehicles. (PHLPOST/PIA-NCR)
