TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, April 5 (PIA) - - -The Tactical Operations Group 2 (TOG2) of the Philippine Airforce is helping the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) of Isabela in delivering relief packs to the coastal towns of the province.
As of writing, Colonel Augusto Padua, commander of TOG 2 said 12 sacks of rice were initially delivered in Palanan town as part of the relief operations of the provincial government.
Padua said they voluntarily offered their two helicopters to ferry the sacks of rice to Palanan town knowing the difficulty to reach the coastal town.
"Kailangan coordinated ang pagdala ng releif goods. Ang pagdala natin dito ay para sa coastal area ng Isabela at hindi ito basta-basta. Tatawirin natin ang Sierra Madre para maihatid natin ang tulong sa mga kababayan natin sa mga coastal town," Padua said in an interview in a local radio station.
The airforce officer added that they will help also in the delivery of other relief packs to the coastal towns of Dinapigue, Maconanacon and Divilican.
At present, the coastal towns of Divilacan, Maconacon and Palanan can only be accessed via sea travel and air travel. The estimated time of travel from Santa Ana Port in Santa Ana, Cagayan going to Maconanacon Port is six hours while the estimated time going to Palanan town via Port of Dilasag in Aurora province is seven hours.
