CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, April 8 (PIA) -- Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is producing personal protective equipment (PPEs) and alcohol for distribution to hospitals in Central Luzon combating the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
DOST Regional Director Julius Caesar Sicat said they have conceptualized a response project to address the needs of frontline workers who are exposed to COVID-19 patients in the hospitals.
"Dubbed as OneDOST Against COVID-19, in cooperation with other government agencies, the project involves, among others, production of 3D printed face shields using equipment from the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) Clark campus," Sicat said.
PSHS, under its PisAYUDA: Siyensya para sa Bayan project, has temporarily transferred its laser cutter and heat press machines to the agency for the production of face shields.
"DOST Region III has solicited the help of Rondayvu Enterprises, a manufacturer leasing a warehouse at the DOST-Technology Resource Center facility in Concepcion, Tarlac, for the production of 500 sets of PPEs," Sicat added.
Moreover, DOST Region III Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory is also procuring 1,680 pieces of 500ml bottles of 70 percent ethyl alcohol which will be distributed to six identified hospitals in the region.
Recipients include Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center, Bataan St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center, Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center, Jose B.
