Ifugao town mandates use of facemask, social distancing

AGUINALDO, Ifugao, May 21(PIA) - - Wearing of face mask and stringent practices of physical distancing in public places are a must here under Municipal Ordinance No. 2020-02.

The officials stated that wearing of face mask in public places during this public health crisis is a good practice of health intervention not only to protect the person wearing it but also other people,

The ordinance also requires constituents of Aguinaldo to observe at least one meter distancing in the workplace and in other public places.

Commercial establishments shall conspicuously display a full copy of the ordinance for the information of the public as violations have corresponding penalties.

For the first offense, a violator will be apprehended and provided with awareness campaign on COVID-19 and sign a promissory note stating his admission of the violation and to follow the provisions of the ordinance.

For the second offense, the violator will render a three-hour pick-drive where the violation was committed. The name of the violator will be submitted to the local Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Philippine National Police (PNP) for proper filing of appropriate charges.

Meanwhile, individuals who will conduct official transactions at the local government unit's offices are advised to follow the set protocols for the safety of everyone in the municipality.

Clients must register at the main entrance, proceed to the waiting area and when called he/she will do hand wash or hand spray, step on disinfection tray then proceed to the concerned office and leave immediately after the transaction.

People should avoid indiscriminate spitting, no standby or loitering within the LGU premises and always observe proper wearing of facemask and social distancing. (JDP/MBL, PIA CAR, Ifugao)

"Wearing of mask during this public health crisis is a good practice of health intervention not only to protect the person wearing it but also protect other people," they added.

The ordinance required constituents of Aguinaldo to observe atleast one meter distancing and wear face mask especially when going outside of their residence, workplace and in other public places during the period of community quarantine or while the threat of COVID-19 still exist.

Commercial establishments shall conspicuously display at or near the entrance a full copy of the ordinance and prohibit the entry of any person who is not wearing a face mask or an equivalent thereof.

For the first offense, a violator will be apprehended and provided with awareness campaign on COVID-19 and sign a promissory note stating his admission of the violation and follow the provision of the ordinance.

For the second office, the violator will render a three-hour pick-drive where the violation committed while for the name of the violator will submitted be to the local Department of Interior and Local Government and the Philippine National (PNP) for proper filing of appropriate charges.

The PNP, barangay officials and other force multipliers are mandated to enforce the ordinance in the municipality.

Meanwhile, individuals who will conduct official transactions at the various Local Government Unit's office are advise to follow the set protocols for the safety of everyone in the municipality.
