ZAMBOANGA CITY, May 29 (PIA) - The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) prioritizes the safety of its attached agencies in Region IX as it provided surgical face masks to the frontliner-employees through the efforts of Secretary Martin Andanar.
A total of 1,416 face masks were distributed today (May 29) to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Philippine News Agency (PNA), Radyo Pilipinas and People's Television.
PIA IX Regional Head Noemi Edaga turned over the face masks to the said offices, which are government-run media institutions operating in the city.
Sec. Andanar emphasized the importance of the health and safety of all the employees under the PCOO and the attached agencies to assure the delivery of service to the public especially in times of COVID-19 pandemic.
As one of the areas affected by the pandemic, Region IX like in other regions has also experienced limited supply of personal protective equipment (PPEs) especially face masks and alcohol. Thus, the recipients of these facemasks which are employees of the PCOO attached agencies are grateful as this will help them in their daily tasks as serving and providing timely, accurate and relevant information to the public.
Station manager of Radyo Pilipinas in Zamboanga City Elsie Molina extends her gratitude to PCOO and Sec. Andanar for providing the face masks. "This will really help us, especially to protect all the employees and ensure their health as we adapt to the new normal in the working environment," she added.
All these agencies practice the proper health protocols to protect the employees and still ensure the timely delivery of news, information and communication services to people. The face masks will be an essential tool while serving the community and these also addresses the concern on the lack of supply of face masks in the region. (NBE/MLE/PIA9-Zamboanga City)
