TACLOBAN CITY, June 2 (PIA) -- Baybay City Mayor Jose Carlos L. Cari disclosed via Livestreaming today, June 2, that the City has its second COVID positive case but there is no cause for worry as all protocols on handling COVID patients are in place.
Mayor Cari said the second positive case who is a 33 years old OFW, female, was on the same flight with Baybay's patient 1 on May 25.
She will be evacuated immediately from the quarantine facility to the isolation center along Diversion Road in Baybay City, Mayor Cari said as he intimated that he just came from an emergency meeting that tackled the issue.
The second confirmed patient is asymptomatic so the risk of transmission is not high, Mayor Cari said.
Mayor Cari gave the assuance that since she arrived, all protocols were followed, all the health workers were protected and she did not mingle with the public.
Meanwhile, first patient remains asymptomatic and is waiting for the second swab test on June 7.
Mayor Cari called on the Baybayanons to continue following health protocols. These are the best safeguards against COVID-19, the Mayor added.
Minutes before Mayor Cari's livestream, DOH-8 announced via virtual presser that there are three more confirmed positive cases in Eastern Visayas bringing the total number to 43.
Patient EV-41 is a 43-year-old male from Burauen, Leyte with no travel history.
Patient EV-42 is a 35-year-old female OFW from Abuyog, Leyte who arrived from Manila via Air Asia on May 27.
Patient EV-43 is 33-year-old OFW from Baybay City who arrived from Manila on May 25, same flight with positive cases from Tanauan and Hilongos. (PIA-8)
