STO. DOMINGO, Albay, June 2 (PIA) - At least 80 locally stranded individuals (LSIs), all residents of this town are now in their home town after they have availed of the government's "Balik Probinsiya" program.
Mayor Joseling "Jun" Aguas, Jr said that these LSIs who availed the "Balik Banwa Dominguenos" program arrived at the town's covered court, early morning on Sunday, onboard a chartered trip of buses from Metro Manila to Sto. Domingo.
"Yung Balik Banwa Dominguenos replictes the Balik Probinsiya program of the national government. Parehas lang po ito, binago lang naming yung name para may distinction," he said.
He said that there are at least more than 120 residents who actually applied for the program but only 103 were approved to return home.
"Yung iba kasi kulang pa sa requirements, so nasa 103 lang yung na-approved. Then from 103, nasa 80 lang yung nakasama," Aguas narrated.
Aguas disclosed that these LSIs went through strict quarantine protocols, such as medical check-ups and other procedures until they arrived in Sto. Domingo. Upon their arrival, they have undergone rapid testing and medical check-ups at the Potenciano Gregorio Covered Court and advised to have a home quarantine.
Those who tested positive during the rapid tests, will again undergo confirmatory testing through the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) or swab testing at the Bicol Regional Diagnostic and Reference Laboratory (BRDRL), Aguas added.
He explained that those tested positive during the rapid test, were immediately brought at the isolation site or at the quarantine facility in Brgy. Lidong, this town.
"So far wala pa tayo sa halfway ng mga uuwing mga LSIs. Sa ngayon madami pa pong naga-apply para sa Balik Banwa Dominguenos program," Aguas said.
Aside from free transportation, these residents also received relief assistance, medicines and other assistance from the municipal government.
"Gastos ng aming lokal na gobyerno lahat-lahat yung pagsundo sa kanila. Pagkain, pamasahe at may pabaon pa sila pauwi," he said. (NNL-PIAV)
