BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, July 4 (PIA) - - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will be constructing Rain Water Collector Systems (RWCS) in various schools here to maximize the use of rainwater.

Engineer Oscar Gumiran, DWPH main district chief, said the RWCs will be constructed in the following schools: Paniki High School, Paniki Elementary School, Murong High School, Murong Elementary School and Amballo North Elementary School in Bagabag; Casat National High School, Luyang Elementary School, Bonfal Pilot Central School, Bonfal Annex Elementary School, Lingay Elementary School, Busilac Elementary School, and Bonfal High School in Bayombong; Commonal Elementary School, Bascaran Elementary School, Solano North Elementary School and PD Galima Elementary School in Solano; Labni Elementary School and Barat Elementary School in Bambang; Quezon Central School in Quezon and Villaverde Central School in Villaverde town.

The 17 RWCS is funded with more than P3.4 million and will be given to schools without adequate access to water and sanitation facilities.

"This is an innovative way of maximizing the use of rainwater for sanitation purposes in the recipient-schools," Gumiran said.

He added that during the RWCS construction, the contractor is required to comply with the Construction Safety Guidelines for the implementation of infrastructure projects during the COVID-19 Public Health Crisis.

"This was stated in the DPWH Department Order No. 39, s. 2020," Gumiran said. (ALM/BM/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
