PASIG CITY, 3 August (PIA) -- Starting Tuesday, August 4, 2020, operations of the Light Rail Transit Line-2 or LRT-2 will be temporarily suspended due to the imposed Modified Enhanced Community Quaratine (MECQ) to be implemented in Metro Manila and adjacent areas, said the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA).

The LRTA advises train riders on the temporary suspension of train operations beginning Aug. 4 until Aug. 18, following the announcement of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to revert Metro Manila to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) also reminded the public of transport guidelines in relation to the implementation of MECQ.

For public transport, public shuttles will be allowed for frontline workers or those who will return to work in allowed industries under the MECQ, while bus, jeepney, taxi, TNVS will not be allowed. Tricycles are also not allowed, but with exceptions, subject to the guidelines set by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and respective local government units (LGUs).

Under the rail sector, operations of the PNR, LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 will remain suspended.

For private transport, company shuttle is allowed to operate with passenger capacity of 50 percent and a special permit from LTFRB for rented shuttles.

Personal vehicles owned by persons/workers in permitted sectors are also allowed, with two persons per row.

Likewise, shuttle services, and point to point vehicles will be allowed.

Further, the individual use of bicycle, motorcycle, or e-scooter by authorized person outside residence (APOR) is also allowed.

Moreover, e-scooters are allowed, subject to existing traffic regulations.

Relatively, quarantine passes will again be required again.

Local government units (LGUs), howver, will decide if tricycles will be allowed to operate, provided that it will only have one passenger per trip.

The stricter quarantine protocol will start midnight tonight.

Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, and Bulacan will be under the stricter MECQ status. (PIA-NCR)
