LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Aug. 10 (PIA) - The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) bagged several major awards including the Best Police Provincial Office award in the recently concluded 119th Police Service Anniversary ceremony held at Camp BGen. Oscar M. Florendo Grandstand in San Fernando City, La Union.
The Best City Police Station was bagged by Dagupan City Police Station headed by PLTCOL Abubakar Mangelen, Jr. while the Best Municipal Police Station went to Villasis Police Station headed by PMAJ Fernando Fernandez, all in Pangasinan.
Pangasinan policemen also went home with major individual awards as follows: Provincial Director PCOL Redrico Maranan as Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer (PCO) for Administration; PLTCOL Vicente Castor, Jr. as Best Junior PCO for Administration; PEMSgt. Eduardo Dispo as Best Senior Police Non-Commissioned Officer (PNCO) for Administration; and PMSgt. Bembo Soriano as Best Senior PCO for Operations.
Special awards were also given to PMAJ Exzur Relatado (PCO) and PSSgt. Carlos Furugganan (PNCO).
The Pangasinan PPO also received Special Unit Awards in the campaign against top most wanted, high value illegal drug personalities, illegal drugs, illegal gambling and loose firearms.
PBGEN Rodolfo Azurin Jr., police regional director, presented the awards to the different recipients and said he is happy to note that there are many heroes in their ranks who are willing to make the sacrifice as manifested in the relentless fight against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
"We should nourish our service in keeping our community safe and withstand the challenges of COVID-19 in carrying out our mandates under the new normal," said PBGEN Azurin in a statement.
Provincial Director Maranan, for his part, said there is nothing impossible if everyone works hand in hand.
This year's Police Service Anniversary was anchored on the theme: "Towards a Pandemic-Resilient PNP: Adopting Protective Protocols in the New Normal." (JCR/AMB/VHS/PIA Pangasinan)
