ILOILO CITY, Aug. 14 (PIA) - The Police Regional Office 6 aims to build more standard municipal police stations (MPS) in Western Visayas.

PRO 6 Regional Director Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, in a press release, said the police stations are the reflection of the brand of leadership, dignity and discipline that the unit have.

"We must ready all police stations in Western Visayas for what President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said that should the COVID - 19 vaccine be available, all police units will be utilized as vaccine centers," Pamuspusan said.

As of August 13, there are 68 standard municipal police stations out of 147 MPS built in Western Visayas.

Twelve police stations, namely Anini-y, Pandan, San Remegio, Sibalom, all in Antique province; Ivisan, Jamindan, Pontevedra in Capiz province; Nueva Valencia in Guimaras; and Anilao, Balasan, Cabatuan, Pototan in Iloilo province, are still under construction.

"Station Commanders and Chiefs of Police with no standard building and lot donation were directed to engage and convince their respective LCEs for the availability of required lot," the media release said, noting that DBM considers the construction of police station as frontline service, thus, treated as priority for funding.

Based on the PRO 6 data, there are 6 towns in Iloilo that have no lot donation; 13 in Negros Occidental, two in Capiz, three in Guimaras , four in Iloilo City, nine in Bacolod City and one in Aklan.

Meanwhile, PRO6 is grateful to the province of Antique for providing all the police stations with the required lot.

"Antique will probably be the first province to have all its MPS to have standard PNP owned police stations," the release noted.

On the other hand, Pamuspusan reminds the chiefs of police to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of their respective police stations.

PRO6 has an initiative dubbed as "OPLAN Banlaw" which implies repair or repainting of all PNP facilities and offices as a "facelift" to the facilities.

"Through this simple project, the PNP could render better services to their clientele by giving them a warm and welcoming atmosphere thus, bringing back the dignity of men in uniform," the media release said. (JBG-PIA6/With report from Col. Gilbert Gorero/PRO6-RPIO)
