QUEZON CITY, Sept. 16 (PIA) -- Technical Education and Development Authority (TESDA) Secretary Isidro S. Lapena reports an increase in the number of people enrolling in the TESDA Online Program (TOP) in the country and Filipinos who are based overseas during the quarantine period.
"From March 16- September 13, the registrants in the program reached a total of 908,396 and 71,251 of these are OFWs or their dependents," Lapena said during palace virtual meeting held Sept. 15.
He added that during the quarantine period, TESDA recorded 965,929 total enrollees and 452,992 learners have already completed their courses.
The TOP also added relevant and timely courses for added usefulness to the public:
* Practicing COVID-19 Preventive Measures in the Workplace
* Facilitating E-learning Sessions
* Performing Proper Waste Management in the Workplace
TESDA also partnered with Globe Telecom so that its online courses can be accesses without the need for mobile data or internet connection.
In addition, TESDA also made a simple and relevant livelihood project, a tutorial video on how to make facemask which is also available in the TESDA's Online Program.
"At the onset of the pandemic, TESDA immediately responded by expanding and intensifying the TESDA online program accessible via www.e-tesda.gov.ph and develop blended and flexible learning modalities," Sec. Lapena added.
TOP is an open educational resource that aims to make technical education more accessible to Filipino citizens through the use of information and communication technologies. TOP provides an effective and efficient way to deliver technical education and skills development services to a broader audience, wide range of users/ all leaners at a lesser cost.
