ILOILO CITY, Sept. 18 (PIA) - Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Trenas and British Ambassador to the Philippines Daniel Pruce virtually signed a "Better Health Programme" memorandum of understanding (MOU).
Trenas said that the MOU between the United Kingdom (UK) and the Iloilo City Government seeks to provide support to the strengthening of the local public health system.
"Our partnership with the UK Government, through the Better Health Programme, enables us to engage with UK expertise and resources for strategic learning and allows us to further develop our initiatives in ensuring public health here in Iloilo City," he said.
Trenas also served as the keynote speaker during the virtual signing of the MOU between the British Embassy-Manila and the city government.
"On behalf of the Ilonggo people, I would like to express my gratitude to the UK Government for your continued support, and for helping us achieve sustainable and inclusive development," he added.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Pruce said that the signing of the MOU is a great milestone that underlines the enduring linkages between the UK and Iloilo City, and deepens our partnerships with local government units in the Philippines.
