Free webinars for Statistics month set

ILOILO CITY, Oct. 23 (PIA) - - Two webinars which are for free will be conducted this October in support of the 31st National Statistics month celebration in Western Visayas.

The webinars guided by this year's celebration theme "Bridging Digital Gaps: Making Information Available to All" are slated on October 24 and 28, 2020.

Organized by the Philippine Statistical Association, Inc. Region VI Chapter, the first webinar is entitled "Health Statistics during the COVID-19 Pandemic: Iloilo City Situationer" which seeks to inform the public about the relevance of statistics during pandemic times.

Resource persons are Dr. Aretha Ann Gacutan-Liwag, Medical Specialist IV of the West Visayas State University Medical Center, and Dr. Alexander J. Balsomo, Professor, Mathematics Department of the West Visayas State University. Liwag will speak about Statistics in Medicine while Balsomo will be presenting the COVID-19 Data and Modeling in Western Visayas.

The webinar will start at 2 p.m.. via zoom and Facebook Live to be posted on the 31st National Statistics Month-Western Visayas Facebook page. Interested to join may register at https://bit.ly/2TdA6Li.

National Economic and Development Authority VI will host the second seminar set at 9 a.m. on October 28, 2020.

The three-hour webinar on Managing COVID-19 through Digital Platforms will present various applications that will aid in detection and contact tracing, dissemination of information and misinformation, treatment and prevention, crowd sourcing, easing the impact of COVID-19 on the economy, as well as interventions that will boost growth later.
