KALIBO, Aklan, Oct. 23 (PIA) - The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) here isnoffering scholarship program for incoming college students.
BFAR Aklan Officer-In-Charge Rico B. Magno is calling on qualified Aklanon senior high school graduates/graduating students who want to pursue fisheries studies to avail of the 4-year scholarship for Bachelor of Science in Fisheries degree through the Fisheries Scholarship Program (FSP) offered by the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 6.
Magno said the FSP has three program components - Fisherfolk Children Educational Grant (FCEG), Fisheries Industry Leaders Grant (FILG), and FSP-Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (FSP-ICC/IPs).
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must first pass the nationwide competitive examination which will be conducted on December 5, 2020 in testing centers which will be identified in respective provinces.
According to him, 26 scholars per region for Calendar Year 2021-2025 will be broken into FCEG, with 20 slots; FILG, 3 slots; and ICC/IPs, 3 slots.
The scholars will be aided through college and avail of benefits like P5,000.00 monthly allowance, P2,000.00 semestral book allowance, and On-the-Job Training (OJT), and thesis support, among others.
Magno said interested applicants from Aklan could visit the BFAR Provincial Office, or check the website at https://region6.bfar.da.gov.ph to access the application forms, or may log in to http://fsp.bfar.da.gov.ph/#online for online application.
