22 uniformed personnel avail TESDA training in SurSur

BISLIG CITY, Surigao del Sur, Dec. 1 (PIA) -- Some 22 members of the 67th Infantry Battalion (67IB), Philippine Army received a certificate from the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) as they completed the skills training on Electrical Installation & Maintenance (EIM) National Certificate (NC) II held at the 67IB Advanced Command Post this city on Monday, Nov. 30, 2020.

They all marked competent in their EIM NC II national assessment, it was learned.

Of the 22 graduates, 20 of them availed the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) from the TESDA scholarship package, while the other two were trained free by LISTA, Incorporation. Under the STEP scholarship package, each beneficiary availed the free skills training, free assessment, PPE allowance worth P500, internet allowance worth P500, training support fund of P160/day, and one year accident insurance from GSIS.

TESDA Surigao Sur Provincial Director Julius Sol Jamero revealed that the implementation of the training for uniformed personnel is part of the TESDA and Department of National Defense (DND) Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on May 15, 2020.

According to Director Jamero, TESDA would provide free skills training, assessment, and issue certifications to qualified uniformed personnel who have to undergo the skills training and Trainers Methodology Course. The implementation has already started in the province, and some uniformed personnel have already undergone the training in other courses, Jamero explained.

The trained uniformed personnel will assist the TESDA through conducting skills training programs for former rebels, Indigenous Peoples, and residents in far-flung communities of the province. (NGPB/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
