BEIJING, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

MOSCOW -- Russia recorded 25,345 more COVID-19 infections over the past 24 hours, bringing the national tally to 2,347,401, the country's COVID-19 response center said Wednesday.

A record 589 new fatalities were reported over the past day, raising the country's death toll to 41,053.

Meanwhile, 26,882 patients recovered from the disease, with the total count standing at 1,830,349.

BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan's COVID-19 cases reached 73,513 on Wednesday as 335 new cases have been registered across the country in the past 24 hours.

The new cases were confirmed out of 3,655 COVID-19 medical tests in the country over the past 24 hours, said the Republican Headquarters for Combating COVID-19.

The headquarters also reported 478 more recoveries and two more deaths, bringing the total recoveries to 65,189 and the death toll to 1,277.

MANILA -- The Department of Health of the Philippines on Wednesday reported 1,438 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infection, bringing the total number in the country to 434,357.

The DOH said 232 more patients recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 399,005. The death toll climbed to 8,436 after 18 more patients died from the viral disease, the DOH added.

MANILA -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Wednesday approved a 100 million U.S. dollars grant to help the government of Afghanistan respond to the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Manila-based bank said Afghanistan's economic outlook has deteriorated during the COVID-19 pandemic because of business lockdowns, a sharp drop in household incomes, and a downturn in regional trade and remittances.

To mitigate the adverse impacts of the pandemic, the ADB said the government rolled out its comprehensive countercyclical pandemic response package of 633.9 million U.S. dollars, comprising health, social protection, and macroeconomic stabilization measures.

BUDAPEST -- Hungary on Monday registered 4,136 new COVID-19 cases, raising the national total to 225,209, according to official figures.

In a 24-hour span, 165 people have died from the disease, taking the toll in the country to 5,142, while 65,888 infected people have recovered.

TALLINN -- Estonia has reported 524 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the nation's tally to 13,019, the country's health board said on Wednesday.

The country's death toll stands at 122 with one death reported the same day, while 7,608 people have recovered and 17 are still in serious condition. JAKARTA -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 5,533 within one day to 549,508, with the death toll adding by 118 to 17,199, the health ministry said on Wednesday.

According to the ministry, 4,001 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 458,880.

The virus has spread to all the country's 34 provinces.

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally reached 9,499,413 on Wednesday as 36,604 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry.

According to the data, the death toll mounted to 138,122 as 501 COVID-19 patients died since Tuesday morning.

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia on Wednesday confirmed 11 more COVID-19 cases, taking the total infections in the country to 812, according to the country's National Center for Communicable Diseases.

The latest cases were locally transmitted and the patients had contact with previously confirmed cases in Mongolia's capital, Ulan Bator, and the provinces of Selenge and Orkhon, the center said in a statement.
