Tagbilaran City in talks w/ AstraZenecafor COVID-19 vaccines

TAGBILARAN CITY, Jan. 13 (PIA) -- The City Government of Tagbilaran is in talks with British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca for the procurement of COVID-19 vaccines.

In a Facebook post, Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell "Baba" Yap II said the city government had a talk already with the national government and AstraZeneca to secure doses of the vaccine.

"Ang City Govt of Tagbilaran nag storya na with Astrazeneca Pharmaceutical nga UK-based para sa pag purchase sa Covid Vaccine," Yap said on Jan. 12, 2021.

The mayor said the city government will not force anyone to take the COVID-19 vaccine, but he urged frontliners and senior citizens to avail of the free vaccination.

"Human sa mga frontliners og senior citizens, mag pre-register ta sa mga PWD (above 18 years old) sa Tagbilaran City," the mayor added.

The city has provided contact persons with the contact numbers on where the city PWDs can text their name, PWD ID number, and address for the pre-registration.

The City Government of Tagbilaran set aside P10-M for the vaccine acquisition.

Tagbilaran City is the first local government in Bohol that allocated funds for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Bohol province currently has 817 total COVID-19 confirmed cases, including 14 active cases, 785 recoveries, and 18 deaths. (ecb/PIA7-Bohol)
