ILOILO CITY, Jan. 22 (PIA) - The Department of Agriculture (DA) in Western Visayas provided cash and food subsidy amounting to P5,000 to 12,065 marginal farmers and fisherfolk in Iloilo Province.
In a media release, 10 municipalities in Iloilo province benefited from this program, including San Miguel with 21 beneficiaries; Alimodian with 148; Concepcion with 3,113 beneficiaries; Estancia, 843; Ajuy, 723; Balasan, 306; Batad, 659; Leon, 779; Sara with 161; and Carles with 5,312 farmer-recipients.
According to DA-6, the beneficiaries are marginal farmers whose livelihoods were greatly affected by the pandemic.
Under the Bayanihan Stimulus Package for the agriculture sector, the department implements the Social Protection and Social Amelioration projects with Cash and Food Subsidy for Marginal Farmers and Fisherfolk (CFSMFF) as its priority interventions.
The P5,000 allocation includes P3,000 cash aid and P2,000 worth of e-voucher that can be used by the beneficiaries to purchase rice, chicken, eggs, and other agricultural products.
The DA-Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division, through its Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita, partnered with San Miguel Bayanihan Tipon Center (BTC) in bringing food assistance to the farmers.
Meanwhile, the P3,000 cash support can be claimed by the beneficiaries from any Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) payout centers upon presentation of valid identification and Quick-Response (QR) code from the agency. (DA6/JSC/LTP/PIA6 Iloilo)
