Army, DOST, LGU Jones ink agreement on Project CEST implementation

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, May 10 (PIA) - The 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army's 86th Infantry Battalion, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Isabela and the Local Government Unit of Jones have signed an agreement for the implementation of Project Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) held on May 6, 2021.

The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement was made between 86IB, PA Civil Military Operations Officer 2Lt. Judily Ann Bugante, DOST - Isabela head Lucio Calimag and Jones Mayor Leticia Sebastian.

Under the agreement, the three signatories will be helping former rebels and the residents in conflict affected areas in the municipality of Jones.

DOST Isabela has alloted P200,000 for the implementation of project CEST in Jones town aside from the livelihood and skills training already provided by the agency to former rebels as a support to the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

The 86IB, PA under the leadership of Col. Ali Alejo expressed his thanks to DOST - Isabela and LGU Jones for the support they extended in helping the government in encouraging the communist terrorist group members to surrender and live a normal life.

Alejo said the government is sincere in its commitment to help the CTGs who have decided to surrender to the folds of law as their benefits are given under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

The army official has called on all rebels to surrender and avail of the many programs, services and benefits that the government is offering to attain lasting peace in the country. (BME/MGE - PIA-2/Isabela)
