CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, May 10 (PIA) -- Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and USAID's TB Platforms signed a Memorandum of Agreement that will pave the way for a faster and effective Tuberculosis (TB) case detection, care, treatment and prevention in Central Luzon.

"This coalition shall work hand-in-hand in developing strategies in the successful implementation of TB programs at the community level," DOH Regional Director Corazon Flores said.

Under this partnership, Pantawid Pamilya parent leaders of DSWD will assist in the conduct of TB symptomatic screening among program beneficiaries during regular pay-out and family development sessions.

"This partnership also allows the conduct of TB awareness trainings such as the BE ALIVE adaptive version of the COME ALIVE Mentoring Strategy while USAID's TB Platforms and DOH provide mentoring and monitoring sessions for the parent leaders," USAID's TB Platforms Field Operations Manager for Central Luzon Rhodora Cruz shared.

USAID's TB Platforms will be working with DOH for the provision of technical assistance and logistical support which include the provision of screening in communities as well as community-based initiatives with sustainability mechanisms that fosters ownership at the local level.

"This engagement will strengthen TB interventions to find and cure more active and latent TB cases in Central Luzon amid the COVID-19 pandemic," Cruz furthered. (CLJD-PIA 3)
