MANILA - The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Wednesday reported the recent seizure of approximately PHP1.1 billion worth of counterfeit goods inside some warehouses in Pasay City.

In a statement, the bureau said a team composed of personnel from the BOC-Port of Manila and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) inspected the Baclaran Wholesale Complex located at the corner of F.B. Harrison and J. Fernando Streets in Baclaran, Pasay City on November 29.

Armed with a Letter of Authority (LOA) issued by Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero, the team conducted the operation that led to the discovery of purportedly smuggled counterfeit goods.

An initial inventory of the items was conducted which revealed numerous items bearing the brands Victoria's Secret, Birkenstock, Lacoste, Converse, Nike, Adidas, Jordan, Havaianas, Barbie, HP, among others.

The inventory was witnessed by BOC examiners, members of the Intelligence Group (IG) Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Intellectual Property Right Division (CIIS-IPRD), and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The bureau is conducting a further investigation for a possible violation of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines and the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act. (PNA)
