With the introduction of GST 2.0 reforms by the Indian Government, the 350cc+ displacement class in motorcycles have come under a higher tax bracket of 40%. However, under 350cc motorcycles now fall under a lower tax bracket of 18%. To hit this lower tax bracket, has reduced the engine displacement of Pulsar NS400Z.

Now displacing 349.13cc, this single-cooled liquid-cooled engine brings Pulsar NS400Z and Dominar 400 under the lower tax bracket. However, the leaked prices have not reduced much. As per the source, Ex-sh price of 2026 350cc Pulsar NS400Z is Rs 1,93,500, down from Rs 1,93,900, bringing the price cut to just Rs 400.

Units equipped with this new 350cc engine have started to arrive at dealerships and we can see one in Machine Rules video. As seen in the video, there are no visual updates to Pulsar NS400Z and even the name has been retained as is. Previously, Pulsar NS400Z used to come with a 373cc engine even though there was a 400 in the name, which is now reduced to 349cc.

There used to be a 373.27cc debossing on the actual engine block visible to the naked eye with pre-update model. Now, this debossing has been removed, which is the only visual cue to distinguish it as a newer 350cc version. Other than that, all features, equipment, name and even the colour options have been retained.

What to expect?

As per theleaked data, performance has been reduced a little with the downsizing of this engine. Displacement is now 349.13cc and there are changes to its stroke, which is reduced to 56.1 mm, down from 60 mm. Bore of this engine has been retained at 89 mm, which was the same before this update too.

As a result, 350cc Pulsar NS400Z now generates 40.6 PS of peak power and 33.2 Nm of peak torque, mated to a slipper clutch, electronic throttle and a 6-speed gearbox. When compared to the 43 PS peak power at 9000 RPM and 35 Nm of peak torque at 7500 RPM of the pre-update model, we can see that power has dropped by 2.4 PS and 1.8 Nm. Where displacement is concerned, it has gone down by 24cc.

Features like 43 mm USD forks, sintered brake pads, wider Apollo H1 tyres, adjustable clutch and brake levers, powerful projector headlights, large disc brakes with dual-channel ABS, fully digital instrument cluster with turn-by-turn navigation are all present. Formal launch is likely to happen soon.
